This was such a fun, heartfelt read. The book is structured in vignettes. Each one pulled me along, keeping me wanting to see what came next. The tone often reminded me of A Christmas Story, with that same kind of humor and storytelling style, which really worked for me.

I laughed a lot, but was moved at times and even surprised by a few emotional gut punches that added real depth, really painting a true picture of life. If you’re curious what it felt like growing up in the 60s and 70s—or if you want a hit of nostalgia from that time—this is a great one to pick up. It really brings that era to life.

Part "The Sandlot" and part "Stand by Me," this nostalgic look at a 1960s New Jersey childhood is both entertaining and quietly insightful. It captures a pre-digital world with different social norms.
